JAPANESE FLOWER ARRANGEMENT: Lecture, Demonstration, and Workshop with MRS. NOBU KURASHIGE, DIRECTOR IKENOBO IKEBANA SOCIETY OF AMERICA

WHEN and WHERE: THURSDAY, MARCH 29, 2012, 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. in HUM 118
An informal reception will follow the event from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. in HUM 117
WHAT:
Director Nobu Kurashige of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society of America will share the Japanese art of flower arrangement. The event opens with a lecture on the history of the art since the medieval period, followed by a demonstration of Ikenobo's famous Shoka-style and contemporary free-style arrangements.  After the demonstration, everyone will individually arrange free-style flowers under the supervision of Mrs. Kurashige. All participants are cordially invited to join a post-event informal reception in an adjacent room (HUM 117) from 12:30-13:30.  Light refreshments will be served. 

HOW TO REGISTER:

For registration, please fill in the application form and submit it to the Foreign Language Department Office (HUM 475) with $10 fee (cash or a check) STAPLED to your application.  If you are paying with a check, please make it payable to "The Toshiko Mishima Memorial Fund," which is the Japanese Program's university account for cultural events.

Application deadline: Monday, March 26, 5 p.m. 

Sorry, no refunds for cancellations after 3/26/2012.

Applications unaccompanied by the $10 fee cannot be honored.

WHAT TO BRING:

One the day of the event, please bring a pair of ordinary or flower scissors, a mug cup or an empty plastic water bottle (which you will use as a flower vase), and a roll of scotch tape.
